Statewide Kiosk Roll Out for Mississippi WIC

WIC Kiosks offer educational programs in English and Spanish.

The Fitness program encourages families to be active together.

Two years ago, the Mississippi Department of Health purchased 11 WIC Multimedia Kiosk Systems that were installed in selected county health departments.  Due to the success of this pilot program, the Mississippi Department of Health contracted us to provide and install an additional 95 kiosks in county health departments across the state.  At each location, we also trained the clinic staff on usage and maintenance of the systems.

Each Mississippi WIC Multimedia Kiosk System includes 13 interactive nutrition education modules in English and 11 in Spanish.  These modules were chosen by the Mississippi WIC Program from a library of existing educational modules on topics ranging from breastfeeding, dental care, nutrition and other health related issues.

The kiosk system hardware includes a Dell PC, 17” LCD touch monitor, speakers, and a thermal printer.  WIC participants use the touch screen monitor to navigate through the programs.  At the end of their session, they enter their WIC ID number and receive a print out documenting their session.  The hardware components are installed in a secure cabinet customized for the hardware.
